Audience profiling means finding out things about your target audience before hand. This can include things such as age, sex and religion.

So before media producers can start to make a film they need to know who their target audience are and how to cater for them. They can do this by using primary and secondary research; this includes things such as carrying out questionnaires to find out if their target audience are interested in the film they want to make.

More about audience data

I had trouble finding out information about audience data so I went on the website http://www.barb.co.uk, which means the Broadcasters Audience Research Board. This website gives information about viewing figures. It also gives statistics such as how many people watch the TV channel. There main purpose is to find out viewing figures for each TV channel.

Below is a link to the weekly total viewing summary, it shows the average daily reach, weekly reach and average weekly viewing for each TV channel.
